It has been an awesome experience having Khushpreet as our mortgage advisor. He is professional yet personable, so we can openly discuss our financial plans with him, bounce ideas off him for mortgage advice, and come up with a solution based on his professional experience. We previously dealt with an experienced mortgage advisor; however, his advice didn't consider our appetite to take risks/challenges for our family's financial planning. It was more like banks using standard formulae for all customers, yet we all know all households are different as to how they manage their expenses and savings. We felt that we were not getting sufficient information to make a good decision. Khushpreet was referred to us by a common family friend and came with a glowing reference. We discussed our plan for our new house with Kush at an early stage (whilst we were waiting to settle the section) , and he gave us practical tips and tricks to tidy up our financial position on paper to make a good case. It was about meeting bank requirements as per their assessment criteria, which can be a bit of a tick box exercise at times For example, we reduced our credit card limits( we were not using the max limit anyways and it was nice to have not necessary) the list goes on, talk to Khushpreet for more info :-) By the time we had our building plans consented and needed to secure the construction loan, the financing market had changed dramatically post-COVID era when the RBNZ rapidly raised OCR from .25 to 4.25 in a short period, and banks were testing servicing at a very high rate. Khushpreet supported us through this challenging time by making applications with several banks one by one and kept us informed, advised us not to think of the worst-case scenario and kept working with banks in the background. He did inform us of the private lending option, which is not ideal but good to know in case things didn't work with the main banks. It was a difficult time of uncertainty, and we were heavily emotionally invested in our new house. It was imperative to have a good mortgage advisor working with us, for us with the bank. With perseverance, we finally got approval from the main bank, and it has been 6 months since we moved into our new house. We highly recommend Khuspreet to owner-occupiers as well as investors.
